SPOILER WARNING
Soichi Negishi (played by Matsuyama Kenichi) is a man who moved from a village to Tokyo to study in a university and chase his dream as a pop singer. But, after graduating he became the vocalist of a death metal band “Detroit Metal City” (DMC), posing as his alter ego, Johannes Krauser II. He was forced to join this band with two people that has no commong interest with him, Terumichi Nishida and Masayuki Wada, by the full-mouthed Death Records President. He met with Yuri Aikawa, his friend in university and his love interest. There is one problem: She hates DMC.
Overall, this movie is entertaining. I just can’t stop laughing seeing Soichi singing pop song! And when Sochi turns into his alter ego. Matsuyama Kenichi is really a great actor. I love him as L (Death Note)!
Though I don’t really understand death metal music, the songs were quite enjoyable, despite the lyric. And I don’t understand the duel between Johannes Krauser II and Jack ill Dark (played by Gene Simmons). Playing guitar vs. saying f*ck nonstop? I don’t get it. I must warn that this movie contains a LOT of offensive words and sexual contents. But, putting that aside, you can get life lessons from it. Everyone could dream. And it’s a great thing to give everyone else the courage to dream.
